Michigan-based hybrid cloud service provider\u00a0Online Tech<\/a>\u00a0has acquired Kansas City-based enterprise cloud company\u00a0Echo Cloud<\/a>\u00a0to boost its reach in the Midwest market. The acquisition will bolster its\u00a0compliant services, and increase the geographical diversity of its cloud infrastructure, according to a Wednesday announcement.<\/p>\n

With the acquisition Online Tech adds two edge data centers in the Kansas City area to its network of four data centers in Michigan and\u00a0one in Indianapolis<\/a>. The companies will combine their existing services, which customers can access through Online Tech\u2019s client portal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very pleased with this deal,\u201d Online Tech CEO Yan Ness said in a statement. \u201cWe really like the Kansas City market. There\u2019s lots of demand that we think is underserved, and this is a great opportunity to provide companies in the area with our secure, compliant hybrid IT services.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ness told MITechNews<\/a>\u00a0that the acquisition expands Online Tech\u2019s product line with new services from Echo Cloud including disaster recovery, and also adds to its channel partnerships.<\/p>\n

Echo Cloud CEO Bill Severn noted the companies\u2019 closely matching values, and the ability to offer services compliant with standards such as PCI and HIPAA to Echo Cloud\u2019s existing customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnline Tech has been a leader in compliance for many years,\u201d Severn said. \u201cI\u2019m pleased we can now offer HIPAA- or PCI-compliant data hosting to our existing customers here in Kansas City.\u201d<\/p>\n
